The elections will be held as soon as possible after making some essential reforms, said Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul today.
"We will conduct the elections as soon as possible after making some of the most essential reforms. We do not want a repeat of the fake elections like before, nor do we want anyone to win and then have the opportunity to conduct another sham election," he told reporters during a press conference at the Secretariat.
Asif Nazrul's statement comes just days after Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus told Al Jazeera during an interview that the interim government will proceed with election preparations without implementing any reforms, should political parties want it.
The law affairs adviser also said most of those in the interim government are eager to return to their professions as soon as possible.
