Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday condemned the murder of a lawyer in the port city of Chattogram. He has ordered an investigation into the killing and appropriate legal course, said Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
Prof Yunus urged all to keep calm and stay away from participating in any untoward activities. The Chief Adviser also instructed law enforcement agencies to step up security in the port city, including all the vulnerable neighbourhoods.
"The interim government is committed to ensuring and upholding communal harmony in Bangladesh at any cost," Azad said.
Advocate Saiful Islam Alif was hacked to death amid clashes between police and Hindu community people on a Chattogram court premises on Tuesday after the court rejected bail to former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das in a sedition case.
