Badiul Alam Majumdar, the head of the Election System Reform Commission, today said there are no obstacles to the Awami League's participation in the upcoming 13th national election.
He made this remark today while speaking to journalists at the Rangpur Deputy Commissioner's office. He said, "This year's the next election will be festive with the participation of all political parties. No political party will face any hindrance."
Addressing concerns about the past elections, Majumdar acknowledged that elections held under party-led governments previously hindered the Election Commission's ability to function impartially.
However, he assured that election officials this time would operate free from any influence, ensuring a fair, transparent, and unbiased election.
When asked whether the AL could participate in the upcoming election, Majumdar replied, "Like you, we are also waiting to see. I don't see any barriers, nor have I observed any deliberate obstacles created for them."
He emphasised the importance of an inclusive election, saying, "We want an inclusive election. Any party that is prepared to contest will be able to do so without any hindrance. I hope, all parties will participate in the election."
Majumdar further mentioned that the Election Reform Commission plans to submit reform proposals to the chief adviser by December 31, after discussions with all political parties and stakeholders.
