As part of the process to prepare a declaration on the July uprising based on a national consensus, the interim government will soon discuss it with political parties, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said on Sunday. "We can only say that it is being discussed and will be discussed with the political parties in the coming days. And we hope that you will see more progress on this issue in the future," he said, adding that they have received several phone calls regarding further progress on the July Declaration.
Alam was briefing the media at the Foreign Service Academy in the evening. CA's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder also spoke at the briefing. On December 30, the interim government announced that they initiated the process of preparing a declaration on the July uprising, based on a national consensus.
The declaration will be adopted to solidify the unity of the people forged through the July uprising, reflecting its anti-fascist spirit and the demand for state reform. The draft will incorporate the views of all political parties and students, including those of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement that spearheaded the mass uprising.
The declaration will articulate the perspective of the July uprising, the foundation of unity and the aspirations of the people, the press wing noted. The government expressed optimism that the declaration will be prepared unanimously with participation from all stakeholders and subsequently presented to the nation.
