Home Ministry has cancelled passports of nine individuals, including Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, former chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), and former commissioner Sheikh Shamsuddin.

The other seven whose passports have been cancelled are: former BSEC executive directors Mahbubul Alam, Saifur Rahman, and Rezaul Karim; former BSEC directors Sheikh Mahbub-Ur-Rahman, Mohammad Mahmudul Haque; former additional director SK Md Lutful Kabir; and former BSEC joint director Md Rashidul Alam.

The home ministry cancelled the passports of these nine individuals last week. Additionally, it imposed a ban preventing all nine, including Shibli Rubayat, from leaving the country. Allegations have been raised regarding widespread looting in the capital market during Shibli Rubayat-ul-Islam's tenure.
