The month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025, the largest book fair in the country, will begin on its traditional date of February 1 this year. Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, will inaugurate the fair on that day.
Sarkar Amin, the Member Secretary of the Book Fair Committee, made the announcement in a written statement at a press conference held at the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of the Bangla Academy at 11:00 am on Thursday. Professor Mohammad Azam, the Director General of the Bangla Academy, was also present.
In his statement, Sarkar Amin said that in memory of the martyrs of the Language Movement, Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025 will begin on February 1.
He also mentioned that the Book Fair will be inaugurated at 3:00 pm on that day by Chief Adviser Dr Yunus. He emphasized that books and book fairs play a vital role in building a knowledge-based, humane, and inclusive democratic Bangladesh. He expressed hope that this year's fair will shine with all possibilities and become a celebration of the beloved book fair.
Sarkar Amin further stated that the layout of this year's book fair will remain the same as last year, though some changes have been made in the arrangements. In particular, due to the location of the Metro Rail Station, the outer path of the fair, which was positioned differently last year, has now been moved closer to the Mandir Gate.
This year's book fair will feature a total of 708 publishing organizations, with 199 at the Bangla Academy premises and 609 at the Suhrawardy Udyan section, making a total of 1,084 units. There will be 37 pavilions in total, with one at the Bangla Academy premises and 36 at the Suhrawardy Udyan section.
