The body of a student has been found hanging from the ceiling in a dormitory in Elephant Road. The deceased has been identified as Anika Meherunnesa Sahi, 24, a student of the Department of Management of Dhaka University. She was the daughter of Firoz Hossain of Notun Hat village in Joypurhat.
New Market police station Officer-in-Charge Mohsin that the unconscious body of the student was recovered from a room on the 8th floor of Moksud Tower around 11pm yesterday (23 February). Later, when she was taken to Dhaka Medical College, the doctor declared her dead.
"Initial investigation has revealed that the student may have committed suicide over dispute with her boyfriend. In this incident, a Bangladesh University of Textiles [Butex] student has been taken into custody for questioning," he added.
