Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, inspected the Mirpur, Darussalam, Adabor, and Mohammadpur police stations in the capital early Thursday. During the visit, he informed the media that a Sub Inspector and a constable from Gulshan Police Station had been suspended for negligence in duty on Wednesday.

The Adviser instructed law enforcement members to remain vigilant and alert at all times to maintain law and order. In response to a journalist's question, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury emphasised that law enforcement agencies must ensure the public can sleep peacefully and move around without fear.

The Adviser further stated that officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs have been assigned to monitor the law-and-order situation, with an increase in the number of forces and patrols. Those disrupting law and order will be brought to justice. He added that law enforcement agencies are on high alert, with checkpoints at key intersections in the capital operational, and joint operations proceeding effectively. Police station activities are functioning normally.

The purpose of the inspection was to ensure that the police stations are operating properly. The Adviser also stated that law enforcement members tend to show negligence during the early hours of duty, which can provide opportunities for terrorists and criminals to engage in illegal activities. He instructed the agencies to remain vigilant during these hours as well.

In response to a journalist’s question regarding the duration of the ongoing joint operations, the Adviser stated that the operations would cease once the situation improves, but other operations would continue.
