Senior joint member secretary Rifat Rashid has resigned from the newly formed student organisation Bangladesh Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangsad, just one day after its launch, citing personal reasons.
A three-member convening committee has been formed over the chaos during the organisation's debut yesterday.
The organisation's convener Abu Baker Majumder made the disclosure during a press conference at Dhaka University's Madhur Canteen today (27 February).
A 205-member central committee has been announced today.
A section of July uprising leaders and former coordinators of Students Against Discrimination (SAD) launched a new student organisation, Bangladesh Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangsad yesterday, amid protests by private university students who claim they were overlooked for posts in its committee.
However, tensions quickly escalated when clashes erupted between DU and private university students at the Madhur Canteen, Mall Chattar, and DU Central Library areas over the issue of posts.
At least 10 people were injured in the incident, including a female student.
