The High Court has ordered the trial of the case into the rape of an eight-year-old child in Magura to be completed within 180 days. The HC bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury passed the suo motu order today (9 March).
The Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal concerned has been directed to implement this order. Earlier in the day, the same bench ordered the removal of all photos of the eight-year-old rape victim from Magura from all types of media, including social media platforms by 12pm today.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has been instructed to implement the order immediately.
