A court has ordered to seize flats, pieces of land and houses owned by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Daughter Saima Wazed Putul, Sheikh Hasina's sister Sheikh Rehana, her son Radwan Mujib Siddique, and daughter Tulip Rezwana Siddique. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Tuesday, allowing a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Earlier, the court also imposed a travel ban on seven people including Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikha Rehana as well as her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and daughter Saima Wazed Putul, over graft allegations. The other people who were barred from leaving the country are - Sheikh Rehana's daughters Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq Rupanti and son Radwan Mujib Siddiq.
The ACC in its plea said the commission is probing corruption allegations of Taka 59,000 crore against the accused. On the same day, the court also ordered the ACC to freeze 124 bank accounts of Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul, Rehana's husband Shafiq Ahmed Siddiq, their family members Bushra Siddiq and Shaheen Siddiq.
