Army chief briefs CA on national security situation during courtesy call

Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman met with Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus for a courtesy call today (19 March). During the meeting, the Army chief briefed the chief adviser on the country's overall security situation and the ongoing operations of the armed forces, reads a release published on Bangladesh Army's verified Facebook page. 

The discussion focused on the military's assessment of current security challenges and the measures being implemented to address them. The Army chief also informed Yunus about his recent visit to the Central African Republic, expressing optimism that the trip would strengthen bilateral relations and military cooperation between the two nations.

Additionally, General Waker updated the chief adviser on the progress of high-level committees evaluating cases of deprived army officers seeking justice and the status of dismissed JCOs and other military personnel. The meeting also included a discussion on various initiatives taken by the Bangladesh Army to provide medical treatment to students and civilians injured during the July-August mass uprising.

Prof Yunus praised the army's role and contributions during this challenging period and provided guidance for future operations, reads the release. It says the chief adviser expressed hope that the armed forces would continue to fulfil their duties with professionalism and dedication to ensure the country's sovereignty and security.
