A High Court bench slammed the brakes on Dhaka University’s ‘C’ Unit admission test results Wednesday, stirring a tempest over alleged exam blunders. The bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justices Sikder Mahmudur Razi issued the suspension after a student’s writ petition claimed errors riddled the question papers, leaving aspiring scholars in limbo.

The saga traces back to February 8, when the ‘C’ Unit (Ga Unit) test unfolded. One candidate, unimpressed, fired off an application to Vice-Chancellor Niaz Ahmed Khan on February 20, titled “Application for re-examination to publish fair results due to multiple mistakes.”

Silence followed—no reply, no fix. Frustrated, the admission seeker escalated it to the High Court, challenging the university’s inaction. “Mistakes tainted the test,” the petition argued, demanding a redo and a halt to results until resolved.

The court did not hesitate. Alongside the suspension, they slapped a rule on DU, questioning why the student’s plea was ignored. “Publication’s off until this sorts out,” confirmed DU lawyer Shishir Manir, signalling a standoff between academic brass and judicial oversight. The writ also seeks swift disposal of the February application—putting pressure on the university to act or explain.
