The Indian High Commission in Dhaka celebrated the golden jubilee of its popular monthly publication ‘Bharat Bichitra’ by publishing a special edition of the magazine at a commemorative function on Friday. Eminent personalities from the cultural arena of Bangladesh attended the event.
Asaduzzaman Noor, Member of Parliament and former Minister of Cultural Affairs, was the chief guest, while Selina Hossain, President of the Bangla Academy, was the guest of honour at the programme.
The magazine features high-quality content, including articles, commentaries, poems, and translations that showcase the development and contribution of Bangladesh to the region and the world, as well as the cultural diversity and richness of Indian culture.
According to a press release by the High Commission of India, the special edition of Bharat Bichitra celebrates the shared heritage and values of India and Bangladesh, as well as the progress made in their bilateral partnership. The magazine is a testament to the close and enduring relationship between the two countries.
In his address, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma emphasised the importance of Bharat Bichitra as a valuable platform for the High Commission of India to promote cultural exchange and understanding of India among the people of Bangladesh. He described the magazine as a bridge of friendship between the two nations.
Former Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman, writer Imdadul Haq Milon, poet Nurul Huda, cultural personality Ramendu Majumdar, writer Anisul Haque, poet Tokon Thakur and former editor of Bharat Bichitra Nantu Roy, among others, were also present at the event.
