Yasin Ali Mondal is a brave freedom fighter who fought for Bangladesh's independence in the 1971 war when he was just sixteen.
He was inspired by Bangabandhu's speech and joined the liberation war from Tangail, Sector No. 11.
Mondal fought in different places of Tangail during the liberation war, and he risked his life to break the shackles of subjugation.
He went to India for training and received all the necessary training to become a freedom fighter, including weapons training. He was part of the 104 platoon, and they entered Bangladesh by river route. After winning the battle of Bhuapur, Yasin Ali Mondal went to the Kalihati liberation camp, where the guerrilla warfare was sent on the orders of Liberation War Command to fight with the Pakistani Army.
After fighting for 8 months and gaining g independence for his country, he again focused on his studies in college and passed HSC in 1972.
After Bangabandhu's assassination in 1975, he moved permanently to Tentulia. Before that, he came to Tentulia in Panchagarh several times in 1968, 1969 and 1973 due to having relatives in the northern region. He came to Tentulia in 75 and started living permanently in Kalandiganj area.
When asked how the liberation war was, Yasin Ali Mandal, , said, "I fought in the liberation war, to break the shackles of subjugation, risking my life. I was inspired by Bangabandhu’s speech and I am happy that I could get a chance to fight for my country. I am proud of the current development in Bangladesh under the Awami League government and the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has turned the country into a land of gold.”
Mondol’s family consists of a wife, a son, a wife, a grandson and a daughter.
Asked, Mondol’ s wife , Syeda Mashuda said, “ I am proud my husband is a freedom fighter. I did not see the war of liberation, but I feel proud to be his wife . Mondol is an honest and ideal person.”
