Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's third terminal will be opened for passenger’s use by the end of 2024 after completion of the construction work. Before that the terminal will be opened for limited use by the airlines in October this year.

Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Air Vice Marshall Mafidur Rahman said this at a press conference organized on Tuesday (27 June) regarding the progress of construction of the HSIA third terminal.

He said, “Soft launching of the third terminal will be in October this year. At this time, the airlines will be able to use various facilities of the third terminal.”

However, time is needed to install various equipment in the terminal, he added. After completing all preparations, it will be opened for passengers by the end of 2024.

Regarding the progress of the work, the CAAB chairman said that according to the government decision, the soft opening will take place in the first week of October.

“We want to complete 90 percent of the project before October. Hope the work will be completed before time. So far 77.5 percent of the project has been completed.”

Mafidur Rahman said that the final phase of the construction of the third terminal project is underway. This project is being completed at the earliest with utmost importance. Work is going on day and night in the project area.

He said, “Eid holidays have started, but we have three to four thousand workers here who will work even on holidays. They don't work only on Eid. They will start working again from the next day.”
