‘Ahsania Hena Ahmed Monojotno Kendra’- an international standard specialized centre to provide service for mental disorders and substance use disorders patients was inaugurated at Alampur of Hasara union under Sreenagar upazila in Munshiganj district recently. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan MP inaugurated this hospital.
The Center established by Dhaka Ahsania Mission will provide multi-faceted specialized medical services to substance users and clients with mental disorders. The five-storied center has 50 beds, an open environment, cabins, deluxe beds, assessment facilities, individual and group counseling facilities, meditation facilities, case management, a library, a gym for exercise, religious practices, ambulance services, family programs, and post-treatment follow-up facilities.
Apart from this, facilities of x-ray, modern diagnostics, ultra-sonogram, modern quality operation theatre and emergency medical services are available at the adjacent Hena Ahmed Hospital also managed by Dhaka Ahsania Mission. It should be noted that the Health sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission has been implementing various anti-drug program activities since 1990.
While addressing as chief guest, Home Minister emphasized the importance of safeguarding the youth from drug addiction in order to build a developed Bangladesh. He called for the cooperation of all, including public representatives, in achieving this goal. Drawing from his experiences visiting various countries, the Home Minister acknowledged that although Bangladesh has not yet reached the level of progress seen in Europe, efforts are underway to address the issue.
Furthermore, the Home Minister affirmed that the government is actively engaged in drug control measures, particularly in securing the Myanmar border. The Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) has been strengthened, and the acquisition of helicopters for border communication has been undertaken to support these efforts.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the President of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Kazi Rafiqul Alam while Director General of Department of Narcotics Control Md. Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan, Divisional Commissioner Md. Sabirul Islam, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Kazi Nahid Rasul and Superintendent of Police Mahfuzur Rahman Al-Mamun, BPM, PPM were present as special guests.
In the opening ceremony, Iqbal Masud, Director of Health and WASH Sector, Dhaka Ahsania Mission delivered the welcome speech. Resident Psychiatrist of the Central Drug Treatment Center of the Department of Narcotics Control Md. Rahanul Islam, Chairman of Hasara Union Parishad Md.
Sulaiman Khan, Chairman of Sreenagar Upazila Md. Mishaur Rahman Mamun, Yana Zaman of Ahsania Mission Female Drug Treatment Center and Rebecca Zaman a parent of a client also spoke in the program.
