Bhairab train collision, at least 15 dead

This afternoon, at least 15 people were killed and many others injured during a collision between a container train and a passenger train Kishoreganj's Bhairab upazila.

Pradhan Sarkar, deputy assistant director of the media wing of Fire Service and Civil Defence, reported that so far 15 bodies were recovered from the wreckage.

Sirajul Islam, duty officer of Bhairab Railway Police Station, stated that a Chattogram-bound container train collided with the Dhaka-bound Egarosindhur Express around 3:30 pm on Monday (23 October).

Several people were trapped under the train, with some of the injured individuals lying beneath the damaged coaches says the witnesses.

Rescue operations are ongoing following the swift arrival of fire service personnel.

Following the accident, rail communication on the Dhaka-Chattogram-Sylhet route remained suspended.
