The first installment of humanitarian assistance consignments for the war-affected people of Gaza Strip was handed over to Palestinian Envoy in Dhaka on Monday (23 October) afternoon, as per the directives of PM Sheikh Hasina.
The Foreign Ministry in collaboration with Disaster Management and Relief Ministry arranged the aid.
FM Dr AK Abdul Momen handed over a representational box of relief materials to the Palestine Envoy on the occasion.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and other officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present during the ceremony.
The humanitarian assistance included dry food items including dry cake, biscuits, emergency medical items, sanitary items for women and children.
The first installment of the consignment contained 587 KG relief materials which were dispatched to Cairo, Egypt via regular flight of Egypt Airways.
Bangladesh Embassy in Cairo is coordinating with the Egyptian and Palestinian authority to arrange the disbursement of assistance in place.
The Palestinian envoy expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to the PM for the steadfast support to the cause of Palestine and thanked the Bangladesh Government for the much-needed assistance to the people in Gaza.
