A fire broke out on the 12th floor of Khawaja Tower in Dhaka's Mohakhali area on Thursday (26 October) afternoon.
Eight units are working to douse the fire that broke out on the 14-storey building, said Rozina Akter, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.
She said the fire service was informed of the fire at around 4:58 p.m. after the fire broke out.
"We heard that several people were trapped inside. The cause of the fire could not be known immediately," she said.
Many on the 12th floor have been seen breaking windows, while others went to the roof to escape the fire.
