Murshedy is the director of Premier Bank. He started Envoy Garment's journey in 1984. Later he made 15 more ready-made garment companies. He is currently the president of Bangladesh Exporters Association (EAB), senior vice president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), member of the board of directors of Bangladesh University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT).
Abdus Salam Murshedy's roots trace back to Rupsa Upazila in the Khulna district, born to Mohammad Israel and Rizia Khatun. Hailing from a sports-oriented family, Salam inherited a strong connection with athletics. His eldest brother, Jamal Haider, notably represented East Pakistan in Volleyball before the events of 1971. Another brother, Abul Kalam Azad, achieved recognition as the bodybuilding champion of Bangladesh in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Salam Murshedy himself emerged as a highly successful center forward in football. His journey in the sport began in the '70s when he joined the Young Boys Club of Khulna. Transitioning to Dhaka in the late seventies, he became associated with Azad Sporting Club in the Dhaka League. In 1979, his skills contributed to BJMC's league title victory.
His association with the Mohammedan Sporting Club, Dhaka, commenced in 1980. During his tenure, the club secured league titles in 1980 and 1982, along with clinching four consecutive Federation Cup titles starting from 1980. In a memorable 1981 Super League match against Wari Club, Salam Murshedy showcased his prowess by scoring four goals. The team, captained by Badal Roy, secured a resounding 6–0 victory.
Salam Murshedy's journey in football not only reflects his personal success but also underscores the impact of his skills and dedication on the achievements of the teams he played for, leaving an enduring legacy in the sport.
1982 saw Salam reach the pick of his career. He contributed to MSC's first title win in foreign soil, scoring 10 goals during the Ashish Jabbar football tournament in Durgapur, India. Then in the Dhaka League he created a new record scoring 27 goals in a season. The record still exists. Throughout the season he had a wonderful understanding with No.10 Badal Roy.
That year, with goals in the Dhaka League, Federation Cup and in India, Salam scored a total of 40 goals in all competitions. During his seven years with The Black and Whites, Salam scored a total of 74 league goals.
But he suffered a bad hand injury in 1983, and although he returned to football within a few months, he was never the same player again.
