Uber, the country’s leading ride-hailing app, on Wednesday (11 January) released its annual analysis of Uber trips highlighting how people used ride-hailing services and the evolving mobility landscape. By crunching its data and sharing interesting insights the annual report looks to delve into the urban mobility trends for the year in the country.
2023 - Year in Rear-View:
175 million km: Uber trips in Bangladesh through 2023 covered a mind-boggling 175 million kilometers. That’s more than the distance from Earth to the Sun. Sound takes 13 years and 10 months to cover this distance, which Uber trips cover in a year.
Over 3 Lakh Earners: Over the years, Uber has offered livelihood opportunities to tens and thousands of people. Over 300,000 drivers have earned via the Uber app establishing itself as a multimodal ridesharing platform of choice with its safer, hassle-free and affordable commute options for over 6 million riders in Bangladesh.
The most popular month: Uber is the most sought-after partner during the rainy season. The most popular month of the year, in terms of number of trips booked, was the monsoon month of May, highlighting Uber's commitment to providing convenient and secure mobility solutions.
Popular days and dates:
Riders in Bangladesh booked most of their trips between 2PM and 3PM
The single highest number of trips in a day were booked on December 21 and December 28. The days were Thursday and Sunday, indicating that Bangladeshis chose these days to meet friends and family and get to work.
Similarly, the most popular two days of the week in 2023 for booking trips were Friday and Saturday.
This year, Uber rolled out Reserve to allow riders in Bangladesh to pre-book their rides - 30 min to 30 days ahead of their travel.
