The permanent location of the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) at Purbachal will open for business on January 21st this year.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to open the DITF this year, Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh stated.
The showcase usually kicks off on January 1st, but due to the general elections on January 7th, it was postponed this year.
Given how little time they have to prepare for the exhibition, there might not be as many foreign companies this year.
Normally, the government notifies both domestic and foreign businesses about three months in advance of the start of the expo, but this time, the notification was made just a week ago.
The Export Promotion Bureau and the Commerce Ministry, the event's organizers, anticipate a sizable turnout of businesses from India, Iran, and other nearby nations despite the short notice.
On Monday (15 January) at a meeting held at the Commerce Ministry in Dhaka, the trade show timetable was decided.
