Jewellers have raised the price of gold by Tk 1,400 to Tk 1,12,441 per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of the precious metal on the international market.
The trade body hiked the gold price earlier on 23 December last year.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk 9,940 per gram while Tk 9,200 for 21-carat gold, said Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) in a press release on Wednesday.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 7,890 a gram, while that of traditional gold is at Tk 6,570 a gram.
The new tariff will come into effect from Sunday, the release said. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk180 per gram, Tk172 for 21-carat silver, Tk 147 for 18-carat silver, and Tk110 for traditional silver.
