The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) on Thursday requested the market committees’ cooperation to identify corrupt traders.

Md Amin Helali, FBCCI's senior vice-president, made the call at a meeting between the apex business body’s market monitoring committee and leaders from the Islamia Shanti Committee of the Karwan Bazar kitchen market committee at Karwan Bazar in the capital.

In his speech, Helali said businessmen want to do business by following the rules.

Due to some corrupt traders, the whole business community is in question, he added.

The business leader also urged businessmen across the country to unite against dishonest businessmen.

Helali said not only during the month of Ramadan, the market monitoring activities of FBCCI will also continue throughout the year.

Abdul Jabbar Mandal, assistant director of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), laid emphasis on maintaining the cash memo system to avoid any kind of forgery.

"If the cash memo system is introduced, the abnormal increase in the prices of daily necessities will reduce to a large extent," he added.
