Bangladesh received remittances of $181.51 crore in the first 29 days of March, but no remittance came through eight banks.
The eight banks include state-owned ones as well, according to the updated report released by the Bangladesh Bank on Sunday.
It said the eight banks that did not receive any remittance include one state-owned bank, one specialised bank, three private banks, and three foreign banks. They are Bangladesh Development Bank, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, Community Bank, Citizens Bank, ICB Islamic Bank, Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan, and State Bank of India.
Of the $181.51 crore that came into the country, $22.75 crore came through state-owned banks. Besides, $3.3 crore came via specialised banks, $154.98 crore through private banks, and $74.3 lakh through foreign banks, the central bank report said.
It also said the country received remittances of $40.6 crore from March 23 to 29. From March 16 to 22, expatriates remitted $39.55 crore.
From March 9 to 15, remittances of $50.61 crore arrived. Besides, $51.29 crore came from March 1 to 8.
Earlier, the country received remittances of $216.6 crore in the month of February, which is the highest in the current financial year.
