After witnessing a downward trend in the two sessions, stocks on Wednesday rebounded on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 37.68 points or 0.66 per cent to settle at 5,776.08.
Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rising 12.41 points to finish at 2,014.14 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advancing 11.83 points to close at 1,257.16.
Out of the 395 issues traded, 279 advanced, 64 declined, and 52 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
The daily turnover increased to Tk 4,339.65 million on the country's premier bourse, which was Tk 3,676.60 million in the previous session of the week.
Malek Spinning dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by AIL, SP Ceramics, LOVELLO, and ASIATICLAB.
METROSPIN was the day's top gainer, rising 9.60 per cent, while Paramount was the worst loser, shedding 5.49 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI – gaining 92.82 points to settle at 16,530.06 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX – rising 56.98 points to close at 9,940.65.
Of the issues traded, 44 declined, 112 advanced, and 27 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 29.96 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover of Tk 9.59 crore.
