Farooq Hassan's chapter of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has ended. The winner of the election held in March. M. Mannan (Kochi) took charge as the new president. Newly elected office bearers under the leadership of the President have assumed responsibility of the organization for the term 2024-2026.
At the 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara on Saturday (6 April), the outgoing Board of Directors handed over the duties to the new Board. The meeting accepted the audited accounts of BGMEA for the year 2022-2023 and approved the budget for the year 2023-2024.
Syed Nazrul Islam will serve as the 1st Vice President as the office bearer of the new Board of Directors. Besides Khandkar Rafiqul Islam Senior Vice President, Arshad Jamal (Dipu) Md. Nasir Uddin, Miran Ali, Abdullah Hill Rakib and Rakibul Alam Chowdhury will serve as vice-presidents of the newly elected committee.
The other directors of the board of directors from Dhaka are Shahidullah Azim, Asif Ashraf, Md. Imranur Rahman, Shobhan Islam, Haroon R. Rashid, Mohammad Sohel Sadat, Ashiqur Rahman (Tuhin), Anwar Hossain (Manik), Mesbah Uddin Khan, Shams Mahmud, Rajiv Chowdhury, Abrar Hossain Sayem, Md. Shahadat Hossain, Md. Zakir Hossain, Nusrat Bari Asha, Md. Mohiuddin Rubel, Shehrin Salam Oishi, Md. Nurul Islam, Saifuddin Siddiqui Sagar and Md. Rezaul Alam (Miru). The directors from Chittagong are - Mohammad Mucha, Amjad Hossain Chowdhury, M Ahsanul Haque, Mostafa Sarwar Riyad, Mohammad Rakib Al Nasser, Gazi Md. Shahidullah and Md. Abshar Hossain.
S. M. Mannan (Kochi)-led Sammilita Parishad won the BGMEA's 2024-2026 term of the Board of Directors by a landslide, winning 35 posts – 26 in Dhaka and 9 in Chittagong.
