The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the release of US$1.115 billion in the third tranche of the $4.7 billion loan package allocated for Bangladesh. Regarding this, Bangladesh Bank Spokesperson Mezbaul Haque said the IMF board has approved the third instalment of the credit.
"We are expecting $1.115 billion to be released by the next two days," he added. The IMF approved the first tranche of the loan package on January 30, 2023.
The lender cleared $447.8 million of the first instalment in February last year, and $681 million of the second instalment in December.
The entire amount of the IMF loan will be released to Bangladesh in seven instalments over three and a half years till 2026.
