Md. Aminul Haque (Shamim) has been elected as the president of the Mymensingh Petrol Pump Owners Association and Safiq Ullah as the general secretary.
On Saturday afternoon, at a meeting held at a restaurant on Rambabu Road in the city, petrol pump owners in the district unanimously elected the duo.
The previous executive committee was dissolved and a new committee of five members was formed to form the new full-fledged committee and appoint them.
There are a total of 77 petrol pumps in the district, with 65 owners attending the meeting.
New committee president Aminul Haque said, “The organisation will work in a coordinated manner to protect the business interests of petrol pump owners and face any crisis.” In addition, efforts will be made to prevent any untoward incident and work in coordination with the central committee and administration.”
He also expressed optimism about forming a divisional committee soon with all the petrol pump owners in the six districts of the larger Mymensingh region.
Besides the president and the general secretary, Saiful Islam, Joynal Abedin, Mojammeul Haque, Habibur Rahman, and Momtaz Uddin Ahmed also spoke at the meeting.
