Ready-made garments owners worried about the orders from foreign buyers as they reportedly failed to ship the consignments in due time. They were not sure whether the buyers would accept the delays of shipments due to the unrest situation in Bangladesh following the recent acts of violence during the quota reform movement.

However, the exporters expressed their hope that the buyers will consider the delays.

SM Abu Tayyab, managing director of Independent Apparels Ltd, told The Daily Messenger that they failed to ship the consignments due on last week due to the unrest situation in the country and moreover they failed to establish contact with the buyers.

“They buyers would be worried as they were also failed to establish contact with us for the consignments of the goods,” he said.

“The production in the factories were continuing in full swing after the reopeningg the factories. The workers were helping thee production with overtime duties,” SM Abu Tayyab added.

A total of 600 RMG factories among 664 were producing export quality goods in Chattogram, according to officials.

Syed Nazrul Islam, first vice-president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association told The Daily Messenger that they would know the reaction of the buyers on Monday as Friday, Saturday were the vacation in Bangladesh and Sunday is in the most of the foreign countries.
