Mahbubur Rahman, the President of the International Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (ICCB), emphasized the critical need for ongoing and intensified efforts to earn foreign exchange as the country looks to stabilize and rebuild its economy.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Platinum Grand Hotel, he highlighted the commitment of the private sector to work alongside the interim government in this endeavor.
Rahman congratulated the anti-discrimination students on their remarkable achievement through a historic movement, which he noted was greatly supported by the solidarity of the teaching community and the general public. This movement has played a pivotal role in fostering a sense of unity and purpose among citizens, which is essential for overcoming the current economic challenges.
He underscored the importance of a robust banking sector in strengthening the overall economy and called for decisive actions to mitigate rising inflation, which has become a pressing concern for many Bangladeshis. Rahman asserted that the private sector serves as the primary engine of growth for the nation, urging the government to implement special initiatives that will foster its development and resilience.
In his remarks, Rahman expressed optimism regarding the appointment of Dr. Mohammad Yunus as the head of the interim government, viewing it as a positive step towards effective leadership during this transitional period. His call for intensified efforts in earning foreign exchange reflects a broader strategy aimed at not only stabilizing the economy but also laying the groundwork for sustainable growth in the future. As the private sector rallies together with government support, the hope is to navigate through these challenging times and emerge stronger.
