British American Tobaco Bangladesh sold cigarettes worth a total of Tk22,339 crore in six months from January to June this year, according to the company's half-yearly financial report.
Hence, the report indicates a 5% increase in cigarette sales compared to the same period last year.
Out of the Tk22,339 crore, the company paid Tk17,454 crore in VAT and supplementary duty to the government.
Meanwhile, the company posted a profit of Tk925 crore in the first six months of this year, down from Tk949 crore during the same period last year.
