Defaulted loans increased by around Tk29,391 crore during the June quarter (April-June), according to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bank.
This represents a 16.14% increase from the previous quarter.
Default loans in the banking sector reached a record high of Tk211,391 crore at the end of June.
Earlier, as of March this year, the amount of defaulted loans stood at Tk1.82 lakh crore, which was also a record high at the time.
In the April-June quarter, the total outstanding loans amounted to Tk16.83 lakh crore.
