DSE index drops by 55.25 points in last 2 days

Trading at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended on a downward trend on Monday in two consecutive days, with the main index plunging by 28.26 points amid rising sales pressure.

The benchmark DSEX index closed at 5,300.06 points, a drop by 26.99 points. The Shariah-based DSES index fell by 11.51 points to 1171.43 points, while the DS30 blue-chip index dropped by 13.83 points to 1963.07 points. In two days (Sunday and Monday) the benchmark DSEX index lost by 55.25 points.

The day saw shares and mutual funds worth Tk551.3 crore traded on the DSE, an increase of Tk 45.4 crore compared to Sunday turnover of Tk 505.9 crore. A total of 17.51 crore shares and units were exchanged through 179434 transactions. In the previous working day, 17.72 crore shares and units were exchanged through 1,66,566 transactions on the previous working day.

Out of the 380 companies that participated in Monday’s trading, stock prices for 133 companies increased, 205 decreased, and 42 remained unchanged at the DSE.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also saw a downtrend of trading, with the CASPI index edging drops by 0.28 points to close at 14,816.95.

A total of 208 companies were traded on the CSE, with prices rising to 78, falling to 103, and remaining unchanged for 27. The day's turnover at the CSE rose to Tk 5.33 crore compared to Tk 5.0 crore on Sunday. Shares and units totaling 20.65 lakh were traded through 2,143 transactions.
