The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended Thursday's trading on a negative note, with the benchmark DSEX index dropping 47.68 points to close at 5,197.58. The downturn extended to other indices as well, with the Shariah-based DSES index falling by 10.96 points to 1,151.55, and the DS30 blue-chip index declining by 15.58 points to settle at 1,919.04.
The day's turnover at the DSE stood at Tk 363.7 crore, marking a decrease of Tk 29.3 crore compared to Wednesday's turnover of Tk 397 crore. A total of 13.01 crore shares and units changed hands through 130,506 transactions, slightly higher in volume than Wednesday's 12.66 crore shares but with fewer transactions, which stood at 138,600 the previous day.
Of the 383 companies that traded on the DSE, 66 companies saw price increases, 263 companies registered losses, and 54 companies remained unchanged.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also reflected a mixed trend. The CASPI index marginally increased by 0.59 points, closing at 14,584.26 points. On the CSE, 216 companies were traded. Of them, 45 companies recorded price gains, 132 companies saw declines, and 39 companies remained unchanged.
The CSE's turnover, however, rose to Tk 12.58 crore from Tk 6.23 crore on Wednesday. A total of 43.37 lakh shares and units were traded through 1,718 transactions, indicating slightly improved trading activity on the platform.
