The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for December will be announced on Tuesday. The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) will announce the decision. The decision, expected at 3 pm, will reveal whether consumers can expect an increase or decrease in LPG costs for the month.
In a statement, BERC said that the new prices would be determined based on the Saudi Contract Price (CP) for December 2024, as declared by Saudi Aramco.
Recent Price Trends
For November, the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder was reduced by Tk 1, setting the cost at Tk 1,455. This followed a series of increases in October, September, August, and July. Conversely, prices were lowered in June, May, and April of this year.
Auto gas prices have also showed similar trends. In November, BERC reduced the price of auto gas by Tk 0.03 per litre, bringing the rate to Tk 66.81, including VAT.
But the prices had risen consistently in the preceding months-October, September, August, and July-after being reduced in June, May, and April.
In 2023, LPG and auto gas prices were revised 12 times, with five reductions and seven increases. Price decreases occurred in January, March, April, June, and July, while prices rose in February, May, August, September, October, November, and December.
