BAT Bangladesh has been honoured with two prestigious awards for excellence in corporate governance: a Silver Award under the ‘Manufacturing Category’ in the SAFA BPA Awards 2023 for Best Presented Annual Report and a Silver Award under the ‘MNC Manufacturing’ category at the 14th ICMAB Best Corporate Award.
The South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) recognises organisations that demonstrate excellence in governance, financial reporting, compliance and transparency with international standards.
The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) awards companies that excel in sustainable practices, corporate governance and financial discipline. BAT Bangladesh has demonstrated its commitment to upholding strong corporate governance and adhering to best practices in sustainability and financial reporting, which has earned the organisation these prestigious awards.
These accomplishments further strengthen BAT Bangladesh’s leadership in fostering transparency and trust with its stakeholders.
Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of Sri Lanka’s Central Bank, and Heshana Kuruppu, President of SAFA, graced the SAFA BPA Awards 2023 event, which was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Representing BAT Bangladesh, Syed Afzal Hossain, Company Secretary & Senior Legal Counsel, along with Md. Atiqur Rahman, Assistant Company Secretary, were also present during the ceremony.
At the 14th ICMAB Best Corporate Award ceremony, Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Adviser to the Ministry of Finance, Commerce and Science & Technology, attended as the Chief Guest and presented the prestigious awards to the recipients.
The event was further honored by the presence of SK Bashir Uddin, Adviser to the Ministry of Commerce; Md. Selim Uddin, Secretary to the Ministry of Commerce; and Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA, Secretary, Internal Resources Division (IRD) & Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), who attended as Special Guests.
Representing BAT Bangladesh, Shahriar Hasnaine, Senior Corporate Finance Manager and Md. Atiqur Rahman, Assistant Company Secretary, proudly received the award. Commenting on these prestigious achievements, Shabab Ahmed Choudhury, Head of Corporate & Regulatory Affairs at BAT Bangladesh, stated: “These awards underscore our unwavering dedication to upholding the highest standards of corporate responsibility and accountability.
