A seminar on "The Growth of CSE Education in Bangladesh" was held on December 22, 2024 (Sunday) at International Standard University (ISU). The seminar was graced by Professor Dr. Abdul Awal Khan, Vice-Chancellor of ISU, as the Chief Guest. Renowned academician Professor Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad was the keynote speaker.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the history of CSE as an academic discipline is not very old. The terms like computer, email, CSE, and programming didn’t exist even half a century back. However, today CSE has a presence in every field. Worldwide, 2-3% of GDP growth is happening solely due to Computer Science and Engineering.

Professor Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad said that it is not necessary to study at BUET to work at global companies like Google, Microsoft, or Facebook, as long as the goal is clear. The greatest asset of a person is his/her brain. This brain must be developed properly and intellectual practice should be a continuous process. He also highlighted the numerous career opportunities for students in both domestic and international companies, emphasizing the importance of mastering programming skills. He added that developing the habit of thinking is crucial, as opportunities often emerge from challenges.

Professor Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad is a former professor of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He is currently a professor at BRAC University. This internationally renowned computer scientist has earned recognition in global circles, including Australia and the United States.

The seminar was chaired by Syed Mustafizur Rahman Chowdhury, Chairperson of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department of ISU. Professor H.T.M. Quader Newaz, Treasurer; Professor Dr. Muhammad Nurul Huda, Advisor of the CSE Department; and Faizullah Kawshik, Registrar of ISU participated as special guests. Faculty members, administrative staffs, and students were also present.
