Mercantile Bank PLC has appointed Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain as the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and Chief Business Officer (CBO) of the bank. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Zahid served as the Senior Executive Vice President and Divisional Head at Bank Asia.
With over 29 years of experience in the banking sector, Dr. Zahid has developed extensive expertise in business development, corporate banking, asset quality and risk management, operations management, compliance, and market expansion. He is also highly experienced in mentoring and people development.
Dr. Zahid began his banking career in 1996 as a Probationary Officer at Eastern Bank and later spent over 21 years at Bank Asia. He holds a B.Com (Honours) and an M.Com in Finance & Banking from the University of Dhaka.
He also earned an MBA and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. Dr. Zahid is a guest speaker at various universities in Bangladesh and abroad.
