CGAA leaders meet BB governor to address industry challenges

Chattogram Garments Accessories Association leaders met with Bangladesh Bank governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur on Wednesday to discuss solutions to various industry challenges.  

During the meeting held at the Bangladesh Bank Secretariat, business leaders expressed concerns about numerous banking regulations and complications that are negatively affecting the garments accessories sector. 

Issues inclusding delays in receiving LC payments despite successful exports, shorter validity periods for export permits, difficulties in accessing Export Development Fund facilities, additional costs for obtaining credit reports via third parties, and currency exchange rate discrepancies in import and export transactions were discussed. 

The CGAA leaders urged the Governor to intervene and resolve these problems. The leaders also requested an end to unnecessary discrepancies raised by banks. 

The Governor directed the relevant departments to address these issues and assured the business community that steps would be taken to simplify business processes.

The meeting was attended by Bangladesh Bank executive director Saiful Islam, FEPD director Md. Harun-or-Rashid, and BRPD director Md. Shahriar Siddiqui, representitives of CGAA vice-president Jamil Ahmed, general secretary Mohammad Belal, joint secretary Mohammad Nasir Uddin, director Md. Mahmud Ahsan Tito, director Md. Enamul Haque and deputy office secretary Hafiz Ahmed.
