Grameenphone to partner with Ericsson on AI-driven service creation to drive customer experience

 Ericsson and Grameenphone have signed a strategic IT Transformation deal, marking a new chapter in driving innovation and accelerating digitalization in Bangladesh.

 The partnership, powered by one of the largest catalog-driven charging and mediation platforms in the world, will enable Grameenphone to launch innovative customer offerings with speed.

 Leveraging advanced AI capabilities, the partnership will improve service availability and enable advanced personalization of the customer experience.

Grameenphone, the country’s leading telecommunications service provider, has extended their partnership with Ericsson to drive innovation through AI-powered solutions. This strategic collaboration aims to deliver world-class services with greater efficiency, enabling Grameenphone to offer personalized solutions that meet the evolving needs of its customers. By harnessing AI and advanced technologies, Grameenphone can launch innovative services faster, enhance operational efficiency, improve service availability, and accelerate digital transformation over the next six years, ultimately enriching the customer experience.

The agreement was signed by David Hägerbro, Head of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and Yasir Azman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Grameenphone, at a ceremony on 22 January (Wednesday) at a hotel in the capital.

The signing ceremony was also attended by the presence of H.E. Håkon Arald Gulbrandsen, Ambassador of Norway to Bangladesh, H.E. Nicolas Weeks, Ambassador of Sweden to Bangladesh and Major General Md Emdad Ul Bari, OSP, NDC, psc, te (retd), Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC). Also present were Andres Vicente,  Senior Vice President (SVP) and Head of MA South East Asia Oceania & India of Ericsson Ltd;  Dr. Niranjan Srinivasan, Chief Information Officer of Grameenphone; Kaustubh Vats, Chief Procurement Officer of Grameenphone along with senior officials from Grameenphone Ltd. and Ericsson Ltd.

This partnership is one of the largest deployments of catalog-driven charging and mediation systems globally. It builds on the success of Ericsson Mediation, which processes over six billion records daily for Grameenphone.

Through this extension, Grameenphone will expand its Business and Operations Support System (OSS/BSS) capabilities, introducing solutions such as Ericsson Order Care and Catalog Manager, modernizing service delivery and enabling 5G readiness. Ericsson will also provide IT Managed Services to ensure seamless operations, supported by AI-driven tools for better efficiency.
