United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) hosted its three-day Annual Business Conclave 2025 with its branch managers from 23 to 25 January at the Rajendrapur BRAC CDM, marking the first such event in nearly five years.

The conclave provided an essential platform for UCB's branch managers to discuss current financial challenges within the banking sector and the future of digital banking. The event, themed "Rise Above the Rest," brought together managers from all 231 of UCB's branches, offering a valuable opportunity to collaborate with the bank's senior management team.

The conference focused on enhancing the skills of branch managers, fostering the exchange of innovative ideas, and underscoring the significance of digital transformation and service modernisation in banking.

Sharif Zahir, UCB Chairman, renowned business leader, and young entrepreneur, stated, "We aspire to make UCB the leading bank in the country. We are committed to running UCB with transparency, accountability, and creativity. Despite the country's economic challenges, our strategic steps have led to growth in our customer base and deposits. We will continue to prioritise digital banking and the integration of cutting-edge technologies."

Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, UCB's Managing Director and CEO, said, "Our primary focus is on protecting the interests of our customers and depositors. UCB is now the third-largest bank in the country by depositors. We are confident that we will strengthen our position in the domestic market by maintaining strong business practices and aligning with future economic trends."

Throughout the conference, UCB's branch managers, alongside senior management, outlined strategic goals and initiatives for the coming year and the next five years. The participants are optimistic that these measures will position the bank for continued success.

Additionally, UCB has achieved a significant milestone in customer trust and security. Over the past six months, despite the challenges faced by the financial sector, no UCB customer has experienced a bounced cheque highlighting the bank's economic stability and strong governance.
