Knowledge Sharing on Shari’ah Banking: an Interactive Session

Mercantile Bank PLC organized a daylong session titled “Knowledge Sharing on Shari’ah Banking: an Interactive Session” at Fars Hotel, Dhaka on 25 January 2025. Top management & Senior Executives of the bank, different Divisional Head from Head Office, Regional Heads and Head of Branches, In-charges of Islamic Banking Windows from different branch locations of the country, all officials from Islamic Banking Division participated in this interactive session.

Mati Ul Hasan, Managing Director of the bank inaugurated the session as Chief Guest and advised the participants to strictly adhere with the compliance of Islamic shari’ah principles and guidelines in all transaction of Islamic Banking operation of the bank with the aim of banks’ slogan “Efficiency is our Strength” in his inaugural speech.

Deputy Managing Director and Chief of Islamic Banking Md. Zakir Hossain along with all other DMDs Adil Raihan, Shamim Ahmed, Ashim Kumar Saha & Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain, CFO Taposh Chandra Paul, PhD and Deputy Chief of Islamic Banking Mohammad Mijanur Rahman Sharker were also present in the workshop. Javed Tariq, Principal of the Training Institute moderated and conducted sessions.

Abdul Awal Sarker, former Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank and other renowned Islamic Banking specialist and practitioner/policy makers’ were also present as Special Guest and conducted the interactive sessions on various issues of Islamic Banking principles, operations, central bank guidelines, Shari’ah Governance etc.

Moulana Shah Muhammad Waliullah, CSAA, the honorable Chairman of Shariah Supervisory Committee (SSC) of Mercantile Bank PLC. concluded the session by addressing the importance of Shari’ah Compliance and also expressed his wishes the prosperity and success of “Taqwa” Islamic Banking of the bank.
