To support and rehabilitate farmers impacted by the last July-August flash flood, the Ministry of Agriculture is disbursing incentives directly to farmers' preferred bKash accounts. In addition to providing seeds and fertilizers, this incentive will help the affected farmers maintain the continuity of production.
The Ministry of Agriculture has decided to provide a one-thousand-taka incentive to flood-affected farmers through MFS channels. Farmers can receive this incentive in their preferred MFS account. Among them, 1 lakh 34 thousand farmers have chosen to receive the government incentive in their bKash accounts. They can use this incentive through their bKash wallets as well as cash out from nearby agent points at a reduced charge of Tk 7.
Last year, many farmers were affected by the flash flood in various areas including Chattogram, Sylhet, Noakhali, and Cumilla. In 56 upazilas of seven districts, the affected farmers are now receiving the government incentives directly into their bKash accounts in the fastest possible time, all from the comfort of their homes.
