The sub-registrar and deed writer in Dimla of Nilphamari, are facing allegations of fraudulent land registry.
This incident unfolded at the Dimla sub-registrar's office on June 22 when a gang, in collusion with the sub-registrar and deed writer, falsified a donor's name and signature to fraudulently acquire 1.39 acres of land in Teesta Char, posing as fake owners. Distraught victims have sought justice, filing written complaints with various government departments, including the district administration.
During investigations, five irrevocable registry documents were discovered, collectively valued at approximately one hundred million rupees. The fraudsters, with the complicity of the sub-registrar, manipulated these documents by concealing genuine information and providing false details. The victims have implicated Dimla Sadar sub-registrar Manisha Roy in these illicit activities.
The victims argue that, with the illegal cooperation of Dimla sub-registrar Manisha Roy, the sellers executed the deed registry despite not being the rightful owners of the land in the last transaction. Landowner Mujibur Rahman and others assert that they did not sell the land; instead, their identities were used fraudulently in land deeds, often portraying living persons as deceased. Consequently, many residents of Char have been deceived by this gang, facing the threat of eviction from their ancestral lands, which support their families through agriculture.
Individuals who purportedly signed the affidavits claim they were misled by Safir and Mehdi, who initially proposed building solar panels on their land in Teesta Char and asked for a power of attorney for discussions with a company.
These victims have accused sub-registrar Manisha Roy and document writer Matiur Rahman Chowdhury of involvement in the fraud. Legal actions against them are in progress. Locals report that, during Manisha Roy's tenure as sub-registrar, land registration irregularities surged in Dimla, often being regularized through bribery.
Sub-registrar Manisha Rani refutes the allegations, stating that land registration occurs after scrutinizing the necessary documents, provided by document writer Matiur Rahman. She emphasizes that action will be taken if the donors file any complaints.
The Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Ghosh, has yet to receive a copy of the complaint but has pledged to investigate the matter and take appropriate action once informed.
