The prize distribution and closing ceremony of the 'Ispahani 35th National Team Bridge Championship' ended with a grand ceremony. On this occasion, the President of Bangladesh Bridge Federation and the Secretary of Election Commission Jahangir Alam presided over the program organized at ERC Auditorium of Engineers Institute of the capital on Friday (22 Sep) at 4.00 pm.
Farooq Sobhan, former secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and former president of Bangladesh Bridge Federation, was present as the chief guest and Mirza Salman Ispahani, chairman of Ispahani Group, was present as a special guest. Furthermore, other officials of Bangladesh Bridge Federation and Ispahani Group were present in the event.
Ispahani 35th National Team Bridge Championship games were held at the ERC Auditorium of Engineers Institute in the capital from September 15th to September 18th. In the 35th edition of this championship, the ‘team Liberty' became the champion and the runner-up was 'Royal Flash'. 108 players from 18 teams participated in this year's tournament. 4-6 players participated in each team.
Team Liberty defeated Royal Flash by 46 points in the exciting final match organized on September 18th. In the prize distribution ceremony, the President of Bangladesh Bridge Federation, the Chief Guest and the Special Guest of the event presented the medals and trophies to the champion team Liberty players Md. Zahid Hossain, SK Aminur Rahman, Maula Al Mamun, Md. Anisuzzaman, Ali Ahammed Russel and BM Mahmud Hossain.
It is important to acknowledge that Ispahani has consistently played a significant role in the development of sports in Bangladesh. Apart from the popular sports, Ispahani has always tried to develop and promote unpopular sports as well. In the past, Ispahani has regularly sponsored the tournament organized by Bangladesh Bridge Federation. Moreover, Ispahani has been a dedicated sponsor of cricket, football, basketball, chess, squash, golf and various other sports.
