As the nation eagerly anticipates Victory Day on December 16th, the National Memorial Mausoleum is undergoing extensive preparations to honor the heroic sons of the nation.
A week-long beautification initiative is nearing completion, transforming the memorial into a spectacle of color and elegance. The entire monument area is receiving meticulous attention, including thorough cleaning, vibrant garland adornments, and the placement of colorful flowers. To facilitate these preparations, entry for all visitors to the National Memorial has been restricted from December 4th to December 15th.
As of Wednesday noon, the entire precinct has been revitalized with meticulous cleaning and beautification efforts. The courtyard is now adorned with the freshness of spring flowers, imparting a touch of white on the red bricks. Red tubs are now graced with wildflowers, while red beetroot adds a vibrant hue to the lake water.
Various small gardens are now beautifully bedecked with a symphony of red and green flowers, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the monument. The square's stairs and structures have been attended to, ensuring a flawless appearance. To amplify the festive atmosphere, the roads within the memorial area are being illuminated with colorful lights. Additionally, a comprehensive security system, including the installation of CCTV cameras, has been implemented, and members of the armed forces were observed conducting state drills on motorcycles.
Superintendent of Police Asaduzzaman highlighted the four-tier security measures implemented in the memorial area to ensure the smooth movement of visitors. From 4 am on December 16th, special arrangements have been made for the movement of people heading to Nabinagar National Memorial on the Dhaka-Aricha highway. The police officer also urged travelers from North Bengal to opt for the Chandra-Gazipur route to mitigate traffic congestion on Victory Day.
Mizanur Rahman, in-charge of the National Memorial Mausoleum and Deputy Assistant Engineer of the Public Works Department, reported the dedicated efforts of around a hundred workers over the past week in cleaning and beautifying the memorial. The enhancements include the planting of new flower seedlings, underscoring the commitment to both commemorating Victory Day and ensuring the security of the revered site.
