Unabated netting of Hilsha fish fries (jatka) have been going on in the river Meghna, Tetulia and coastal area of the Bay during the current time which may be hamper the production of quality and big size hilsha fish in coming days.
During visit in the river bank and fish trading centers and hat and bazzars floods jatka. It is found that catching and trading of jatka have been going on without any hinderness from law enforcing agencies.
While contacted Kaseem Majhi secretary of Bhola zila mastojibi samity said that a section of fishermen continuing catching of hilsha fish fries by using banned current net though government jatka protection drives is going on.
Jahangir Majhi a fisherman of Tulatoli fish ghat said that huge jatka have been catching while nets are setting in the river. But fishermen are not getting fair price as per kilogram of jatka is being sold at tk-150 to 200.
Fishermen also said that no expected amount of big size Hilsha were cought in the previous hilsha season. As a result fishermen were faces huge losses and fail paid up their loan money last year. While contacted Abul Kalam Azad district fishery officer of Bhola said that following parliamentary poll law enforcing members were busy. So the drive against jatka catching will start soon.
