Two tourists died when a jeep fell into a ditch in Bandarban's Ruma upazila on Saturday (20 January) morning. Along with the deaths 11 more were also injured in the accident.
The deceased are Feroza Begum, and Zainab Khatun.
According to authorities, a jeep carrying them slid into a ditch near Darjiling Para on the Bagalek-Keokradong route around 11 am on Saturday.
A group of 57 women traveled to Keokradong with an organization named "Narir Chokhe Bishwo Dekha".
Md Midan Miah, SI of Ruma Police Station told the reporters that after spending the night in Bagalek and Ruma, 13 of them were headed back to Bandarban Sadar this morning.
"On the way back, the jeep lost control and fell into a deep ditch in Darjiling Para," he added.
Ruma Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Syed Mahbubul Haque stated that directives have been issued to take the appropriate steps to treat the injured.
Police, army, BGB, and fire department workers rescued them and took them to the Ruma Upazila Health Complex. They were later sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital, he added.
"However, no case has been filed in this regard," he added.
